The restaurant's namesake spice also plays an important influence in Darren's dishes- think carrot, orange and saffron soup with duck ragoût. Saffron also offers an impressive Platinum rated wine list which includes wines from the West Coast and surrounds, South African MCC wines, French champagnes and the world's top six single malt whiskeys.
Afternoon Tea becomes a royal affair with 'Tea by the Sea' being served daily in the Conservatory-style Orchid Room which overlooks the bay and includes mouth-watering treats such as Darren's signature Gateau St Honore, strawberry cream disks and savory pancake roulades served with a selection of fine teas.
'Tea by the Sea' at Abalone House is priced at R95.00 per person and served daily from 15h00 until 16h30 to resident guests and is also available by appointment to day-visitors. Methode Cap Classique sparking wines and refreshing Pimms cocktails are also available at an additional cost.
