Mooie ambiance. Ondanks de hoogte van de ruimte van het restaurant was de akoestiek prima. Ik kon op een normale manier converseren met mijn tafelgenoot en hoefde ook geen moeite te doen om zijn woorden te verstaan. De gerechten waren verrassend qua smaak en de opmaak van de gerechten was goed. Het voorgerecht had voor mij wat explicieter qua smaak gemogen, daarom ook een 9 daarvoor.

Apologies for my lack of Dutch.... My girlfriend and I were a little intimidated by the grandiose appearance of Polman's but figured that during the Restaurant week, the clientele would be 'normal'. As plebians, we felt a little out of place when we stepped in and during our walks to the toilet, but perhaps this was in our head. We were greeted by a charming elderly lady that exuded the elagance of a bygone era. We were swiftly seated at a nearby table and had our drink orders taken and menus explained. The ambiance was terrific, snooty people, 10m high ceilings, beautiful bouquets of flowers, tastefully clad waiters and exemplary decor. My girlfriend complained of the chairs, and indeed they seemed to be of the same make from the neighbouring Irish Pub. We weren't blown away by the food. We expected small portions which was the case. A few tablespoons of puree, a couple of exotic vegetables, and small tender cuts of meat and fish. None of the flavours particularly stood out. It was meat and potatoes, a la haute cuisine. Our favourite dish out of the three courses was the dessert. The service was terric, though not impeccable (we waited about 20 minutes between starter and main). Overall, it was a pleasant restaurant week experience at Polman's and nice to dine at a place where we otherwise would not.

Voorgerecht was prima, van het hoofdgerecht was het vlees uitstekend, de garnering minder, met name de gepureeerde groentenn hadden weinig smaak. Nagerecht was goed.
