Portions were generous and the mains were well done, though the sides could have been better. For a more detailed review, please check out: http://liveeatbreathe.blogspot.sg/2013/04/trattoria-lafiandra.html

AN UTTER DISAPPOINTMENT The food was presented haphazardly. Looked as though little thought went into displaying the food in a neat let alone an appetizing manner. Taste-wise the food was as uninspiring as the presentation. Service seemed to be more interested in other (perhaps full paying) tables. Service staff were distastefully dressed in short skirts and see through blouses and seemed unsure, unprepared and lacked any passion or interest in the service they provided. There was a huge lag time between the soup and the main course yet no one had the courtesy to advise us so. We decided to leave before the main course, disenchanted by the food and service we experienced thus far. Even then, the staff were unhelpful and unfriendly. What left an even more sour after taste was the rude words from the chef as we exited the establishment (for the last time.) I had high expectations for Trattoria Lafiandra seeing that it has attained the DiningCity Star, it's prime location and the fact that I was paying a higher price for it than other establishments during the Restaurant Week. However, I was utterly disappointed. During Restaurant Week, I also had the opportunity to visit Garibaldi's (under a friend's reservation) and the differences were stark. From the start when they called to see if we would like to shift our reservation to the following week (at the same price) due to our really late sitting (930pm), to the food (both presentation and taste), to the professional service staff, Garibaldi was well worth the DiningCity Star and the extra premium we very happily paid for. Trattoria Lafiandra, for its tasteless fare, clueless staff, and rude management should have no place in Restaurant Week let alone as a DiningCity Star restaurant.

We went for a weekend lunch and thankfully the restaurant wasn't packed. It was a good amount of crowd, and the service crew were prompt and attentive. Food wise, while they were served quite quickly, the temperature didn't feel like newly cooked. The highlight of the menu to us was definitely desserts. While my partner thought his tiramisu was mediocre, I thought it was quite yummy and had the right richness and texture to it.
