Café-Restaurant Levant, basic and pure Turkish food at the Weteringschans in Amsterdam.
In Café-restaurant Levant we try to ambience, cuisine, drinks and visitors to the Levantine atmosphere to evoke the cosmopolitan Amsterdam.
The Levant has long been the designation for the Eastern Mediterranean: "... where the sun rises. The origin of the word is the French term 'liver se', that 'up' means. The Europeans, who in this vast region (including Lebanon, Syria and Turkey) established were called Levantine.
The cosmopolitan Istanbul had a great Levantine community. This exerted a great influence on the culture in this city: the architecture, and music on stage, not least, the cuisine and social life.
I really enjoyed eating at Levant. What i like the most was that the menu for Restaurantweek was not a set menu, instead u could choose a la carte. I think that's one of the best ways to try a restaurant. Good food with good quality and service.

Heerlijk gegeten bij dit restaurant, zeer vriendelijke bediening. Alles was top. Fijn dat er zoveel keus was voor de restaurantweek. We werden niet afgescheept met twee opties. Heerlijk! Wij komen hier zeker terug!

Had dinner their last night with my girlfriend and I do have to say that it was delicious. From the starters up until the dessert. We had delicious mezze as starters (my personal favorite was the traditional Hummus one, my girlfriend liked the eggplant one the most), and as a main dish we both had fish. She had the dorado, and I went for the sea bass. Both were prepared just perfect, and had a very nice taste. The location of the restaurant also makes it more attractive, because it is close to the Van Gogh, and Rijksmuseum. Situated right outside of the Leidse square. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for people who would like to experience the Turkish (Mediterranean) cuisine, not trough the traditional way. You will have a much wider variety of dishes to choose from compared to other Turkish restaurants. It feels like Levant is much more a restaurant for the international crowd of Amsterdam, rather then being a traditional one.
