I liked the decor a lot, very cosy with dim lights. It was a warm evening and we got a nice table by the open doors. Service was good and the courses came with good intervals. Food was ok but nothing amazing, dessert was the best part of the meal. The fries that came automatically with the main course were unnecessary. |

I expected more from the restaurant, since I had excelent reviews from friends. I didn't like the dim lights, thought they were too weak, although the decoration is nice. The service was quite slow, although she was always asking if everything was ok. We had a vegan guest and she had a different dish from the menu without a problem. And it turned out to be the best meal... The duck and the cod fish didn't have much flavour, the french fries were comparable to MacDonalds. The starters and desserts were great and all were well presented. |

A cosy real Amsterdam cafe alongside the canal - very nice and helpful people. Only to recommend.
Toilet facilities and cleanliness could be improved. |

Our night out at Van Puffelen was okayish (food was nothing special we had to send back some of the meat to the kitchen because it was too rare for my taste), but staff was atentive (that is, when you got a chance to get their attention - but this seems to be no novelty in these type of places in the Netherlands) friendly. Service was quick and we loved the fresh bread at the start of the dinner. Overall we'd say: a 6.5 - 7 for Van Puffelen. |

I was looking for a restaurant where I could take a friend from out of town that would provide great food, service and atmosphere. Van Puffelen was perfect. The service was the best I have had in Amsterdam (wait staff was very attentive and pleasant), the food was delicious (set menu option was only €22 and was well worth it!), and the decor was cozy and inviting. Not to mention the location was perfect, close to the tram line, and right on the Prinsengracht. We will definitely be back (again and again)! |

The food was rich and homely. The wine was delicious and they also sold it by the glass. A good wine sold by the glass is important for me. The interior is beautiful! |
