Eten: 10 | Service: 9 | Sfeer: 9 I should go there more often. This tiny little and cozy Trattoria keeps surprising (positively) me every time again and I’m wondering myself why I keep cheating.
My dinner partner had this amazing lamb chop sticks wrapped in pancetta grilled on lava stone with fresh herbs like sage, thyme, rosemary. The meet was perfectly soft, juicy and steamed in the mixture of herbs with a slight smoked background taste of the lava stones.
I had the freshly made pasta served with crunched walnuts, thin sliced sage and a generous amount of chopped truffels, combined with grated cheese and sweet cherry tomatoes. Every piece of my fork I took was a new experience of flavors: I loved the texture of softness combined with crunchiness, the earth tone of truffles, the bitterness of sage and sweetness the cheese and tomatoes. Then washing it down with some Montepulciano wine and having another bite and repeating all the flavors again and again and again…. (I could go on, describing all the tastes of the desserts or starters, but that would be too much text.)
Anyway, thank you dear cook - Pino was your name?- I just love your food!
Note: I almost regret that I’m sharing this experience with other potential guests, since I fear that I probably need to book my table 4 weeks in advance in the future.

Eten: 9 | Service: 9 | Sfeer: 9 Well, I'm a returning guest of Quatro Gatti since 3 years. All I can say is, I'm really looking forward to my dinner upcomming Friday.
Yes, the service is kind of slow and the preparation of various dishes takes some time. But it pays back: the lovely combinations of herbs, spices and fresh ingredients melt on the tongue.....plus I always enjoyed the fun factor of the resaturant. While waiting for the food we had many entertaining conversations with our table neighbours.
I'll keep you posted. |

Eten: 8 | Service: 7 | Sfeer: 7 ??? In contrast with the latest comments below, we had an excellent dinner on the same weekend. My dorado as well as the lam for my companions were just simple and good.
It took well long before we were served, but for such a small restaurant with limited number of personnel it may well happen.
I think I want to visit this restaurant again to try different dishes. |

You definitely have no concept of how to treat your customers. Ever heard of the saying that "no matter what the client says, the client is always right". I am surely stunned by your personal comments. The fact that you are not able to stand any critique means that you are in the wrong business. I stand by my observations that there is no WOW factor in the meal you presented me. There was most definitely no flair for flavor combinations in the dishes I consumed and you certainly have no sense of taste in serving you clients salty, almost unpalatable dishes. Your personal comments I will ignore because they do not merit any effort on my part. What I will say is that I have frequented the Italian Trattoria La Nuova Vita for the last 15 years and was consistently amazed at the standard of Italian food presented to me. It is a pity that this restaurant closed when the owner, Mr Pino (also from Torino) retired. What a loss!! Pino was always happy to receive critique in order to improve his standards. The fact that you can not stand critique means that if you cannot withstand any heat, then you should not be in the kitchen. |

Eten: 5 | Service: 5 | Sfeer: 6 Ik heb zoals onderstaande Engelstalige persoon gisteravond eveneens geklaagd over de pasta in rest. Quattro Gatti die veel en veel te zout was, bijna niet te verteren. De worstjes en het toetje waren ok. Maar wat mij veel meer irriteert dan het matige gekook van deze kok zijn zijn commentaren die prat gaan van zelfvoldaanheid en arrogantie. Ook de bediening kenmerkt deze arrogantie. U moet toch eens een stapje terug nemen, meneer!
Uw ervaring in de Horeca interesseert mij geen zier. Alleen uw kookkunst van nu telt. |

We do not use lavender in traditional Italian cuisine , the lavender in Italy is used draws to keep clotes smelling nice, so I would never use it.
By the way it is bizzarre that you can confuse wild rucola hand picked with lavender.
And about truffle please, do not even try to know what is good truffle more than me because I come from Turin(Piedmont) and I use truffle for cooking in restaurants from when I was 15 years old.
If you would be a real gourmet you would know that in summer black truffle from Italy it is only of the specific kind "summer truffle"and are less strong in aroma than autumn and winter truffles, and we do not use chemicals truffle aroma like many other restaurants!!! And the only a frustrated amateur cook would come to a high grade trattoria to try to find extravagant dishes.
Myself instead I soffer reading poor comments like yours that intact my business because you have to know that I am 35 and I studied and worked in hotellerie since I was 13 !!!!
For your information to don't mention the rest just in amsterdam working for the bests Italian restaurants and also for a 2 star michelin.
And If I keep on cooking in my own restaurant by myself it is not because I can't afford a cook but because I love cooking.

My starter, the langoustines, was utterly disappointing: The dish promised much, but was destroyed by the much too heavy use of lavender, which is, everybody knows that, one of the most dangerous ingredients around. The aftertaste of the lavender unfortunately overpowered all other taste sensations and in the end spoiled the natural sweet flavor of the langoustines. The main arrived two hours later, but also lacked a wow-factor: The pasta taste was unidentifiable after the first mouthful: the cook had a much too heavy hand with the salt shaker and the black truffle was tasteless and clearly of a minor quality. An amateur cook could not have done worse and probably would have presented me with a dish which would have given me a much more favorable and memorable experience. This visit to Quattro Gatti has definitely been an expensive one and one I would not repeat anytime soon. The restaurant is absolutely not worth it! |

We are sorry that you didn't like our restaurant, but mostly we are sorry for ourselves that we had to spend time and work for little appreciating peoples like you.
Your comment about the quality you could have keep it for yourself because we buy and serve only first quality ingredients and wines and if you do not get it it is because you do not know what really is good quality.
Judging us for the time you get served like if you were in a 5* star hotel, if you like to be served and eat fast like in a michelin star restaurant is there that you have to go, but I am sure you will see the difference at the end of the dinner.
Usually I do not care about silly comments but saying that we do not have good quality reallyb made me mad.
Say to the person who suggested you our restaurant that he or she should have told you what is our style , so you would not have had to write such a silly comment. Chef Milos
