I recently --Jan 08-- visited restaurant/proeflokaal Janvier with my girlfriend. Our second time there. Had the 5-course 'surprise' menu this time (first time 'just' the 4-course), with wines paired. Excellent food, good service, and fair pricing. VISIT THIS PLACE IF YOU PLAN TO BE (OR LIVE) IN AMSTERDAM! I assure you that you will not be disappointed. The place is fairly chic and you should dress appropriately (casual dining). No, no jeans and T-shirt. Go there if you want to enjoy fine cuisine and have the time --yes, time!-- to enjoy a well-rounded meal 3.5h at least for the 5-course. The staff is friendly and will cater to your needs if you specify. I look forward to my next visit there!
