The historical Amsterdam building in which the restaurant Proeverij 274 is situated is but a stone's throw away from the Westertoren Church, in the heart of the Jordaan, on the corner of the Prinsengracht and the Elandsstraat.
The restaurant is divided over two floors, the ground floor looking out over the canal and below that another floor. The lower floor with it's natural stone floor and open kitchen is a perfect location for groups of up to twenty five persons to eat or celebrate. The wooden tables with their comfortable chairs, coupled with the open layout create a pleasant and intimate atmosphere, the candlelight and authentic stone floor only add to this. |

As this was the second time I had dined here my expectations were high. Fortunately, Proeverij 274 did not disappoint.
The food is well presented and the flavours beautifully matched. However it is the service that really makes this place and is the reason why I will come back again and again. |

Having enjoyed a meal at Proeverij 274 a few months ago, we decided to take our friends who were visiting from the UK.
My request to have the window table was met with very readily and from the outset the staff were warm and welcoming.
The four of us had a starter, main and dessert each. We also managed to polish off several bottles of wine and the bill was still only €380!
The food was presented beautifully and tasted divine. Our guests were very happy with our choice!
I will definitely be back again in the coming months.

One of the best resturants in Amsterdam. It is very rare to find a restaurant that CAN ALWAYS present outstanding, tasty food. The chef's menu is always a treat and together with the house wine, creates magic. We've visited 6 times since December and never ever had a problem with the food or the serve. Romantic, quiet and just Perfect. |

The restaurant itself is very atmospheric with low lighting and plush decor. Our waitress for the evening was extremely attentive and happy to share some of her many stories with us
Although the menu is not too extensive there is something to please everyone.
Portions aren't huge but still satisfy and the wine list has a lot to recommend itself too.

My 4th time is this lovely cosy place. The mustand soup is a must and with the coffee you get black chocolate beans!
I love this place, the only thing that was not perfect is the espresso, but this my subjective view, there are not many places in this world to get a good espresso with a perfect crema ... but it is always good not to be to perfect -)
I'll come back! |
