The historical Amsterdam building in which the restaurant Proeverij 274 is situated is but a stone's throw away from the Westertoren Church, in the heart of the Jordaan, on the corner of the Prinsengracht and the Elandsstraat.
The restaurant is divided over two floors, the ground floor looking out over the canal and below that another floor. The lower floor with it's natural stone floor and open kitchen is a perfect location for groups of up to twenty five persons to eat or celebrate. The wooden tables with their comfortable chairs, coupled with the open layout create a pleasant and intimate atmosphere, the candlelight and authentic stone floor only add to this. |

Food: 10 | Service: 10 | Decor: 10 My 4th time is this lovely cosy place. The mustand soup is a must and with the coffee you get black chocolate beans!
I love this place, the only thing that was not perfect is the espresso, but this my subjective view, there are not many places in this world to get a good espresso with a perfect crema ... but it is always good not to be to perfect -)
I'll come back! |

Food: 10 | Service: 10 | Decor: 10 It's the only resturant in Amsterdam that we've visited 4 times in 6 months. Believe it or not, that is fantastic. The food is wonderful and the wines always goes perfect with the meal. 100% super-fab. |

Food: 9 | Service: 10 | Decor: 10 So far the most enjoyable meal in Amsterdam in 6 months. Excellent friendly service (abscent in most places sadly). Although only a small selection of dishes all are very appetising. Food alergies were catered for, no problem. Wine list a little over priced I thought hence not 10/10. |

Food: 9 | Service: 9 | Decor: 9 A truly enjoyable evening. The meal was fantastic and was well worth the price - more than average but way above standard menus. Would recommend to anyone wantinga quiet, romantic and good qualifty meal in cosy surroundings. |

Food: 10 | Service: 10 | Decor: 9 We were greeted by a happy waitress when we arrived and were given a choice of tables.
The evening was relaxed in this smallish restaurant. The menu looked great and there was a varied choice. It all arrived in good time - not too quick and not too slow. We had wine too which was also good. The taste and flavours of the food was lovely - especially the creamy pan fried ducks liver! We were both full after the appetiser, starter and main course so we shared a dessert.
The only downside was that the coffee machine broke that evening so we had to have another beer instead!
A really very nice restaurant with really great food and service. I would not hesitate returning to Proeverij 274 next time I'm in Amsterdam.
Recommended. |

Food: 8 | Service: 7 | Decor: 7 I made the reservation on Diningcity.com but they didn't have our name when we arrived. Fortunately I was able to show the confirmation email on my Blackberry. The manager seemed flustered but then figured it out and we were seated. The odd thing was that we were a party of two and they seated us at a table for 8! It was awkward but we had a laugh. My only real complaint was that I ordered a very expensive scotch and received barely a thimble-ful of liquid. At least next time use a smaller glass! Total rip-off. Otherwise, the food was quite good and the service was reasonable attentive. We would definitely go back. |
