Our world renowned Italian restaurant, Pasta e Basta, which features singing waiters and waitresses, is situated bang in the middle of Amsterdam's picturesque canal district. The name of our restaurant says it all, loosely translated Pasta e Basta means: Pasta and Full Stop! The rhyme obviously adds to the charm.

Pasta e Basta has been a huge success since the day it opened its doors nine years ago. We have it all: the freshness of the Italian cuisine, wonderfully friendly and helpful (and musical!) service, an award-winning wine list and a charming location which features a sophisticated air purification system so that even those most sensitive to smoke can breathe freely. Despite the fact that we can seat 110 guests simultaneously, diners can enjoy their meal in a romantic setting that exudes warmth and intimacy.

I went there this week and definitely is going to be the last. First of all, the price is to high for the quality of the food. The antipasto that you can have in a combination with the main dish is very poor. The amount of food you have as a main dish is ridiculous, I ordered a Lasagna, witch was very spicy, and they served me a slice of Lasagna. They don’t have variety of food in the Menu. The singers are definitely terrible. Plus to this everything: the prices are RIDICULUS.

Great, absolutely great place. Last week was my first visit and for sure will not be my last! After a busy week of business my wife and I needed a romantic but entertaining evening. We found the prefect combination at Pasta e Basta! First of all the service: We were welcomed by a very friendly manager. She asked us which table we wanted. We preferred a table near the piano/ buffet. This was a excellent choice. We were in the middle of the entertainment, although the table choice wasn't really important because all the singers were walking around, so everyone had a good view of the entertainment. Our waitress was a lovely girl named Isabelle. She acted like she'd been doing this job - singing, waiting and charming- for years and did nothing else. My wife and I were extremely surprised that this was just a hobby of her. From nine to five she was a full time law student!!! The other waiters were just like ours extremely gifted! They got the place silent with classical music and rocked it down with Jerry lee Lewis' classic: great balls of fire. Overall a great place for any occasion. Being from San Francisco my wife and I could only think of moving to Amsterdam for this place, or asking the boss (Hans:who introduced himself to us at the end of the evening) to consider to relocate. We'll be back, just like last week probably with a big smile an in awe for the singing! PS the food was great: Try the lasagna!
