Around 1650 three defence bastions were built in this neighbourhood.
The best known one was Zeeburg, the name-giver of this district of town.
Not far from the current position of the restaurant a somewhat smaller defence bastion was situated, which was named Jaap Hannis.
Jaap Hannis (Jaep Hanissis) is named after an innkeeper who ran his business in this area around the 15th century.
Restaurant Jaap Hannis is situated in the Eastern Docklands, on a man made island constructed on the water in the middle of the Entrepot harbour.
We have a wide arrangement of possibilities for groups. From cocktails with appetizers to casual fine dining, possibly combined with live music or a boat trip.
Incidentally the restaurant can be hired for private parties.
