Loved it! Excellent setting in a quiet area of De Pijp. Just a few blocks from the bustle of the Albert Cuyp Market and row of restaurants, but settled nicely in the trees where the lights in the ground add to the ambiance. We went on a Monday night and we were one of only about 5 groups in the restaurant. Service was superb by Dutch standards. We really enjoyed the menu and the explanation we received by the waiter who did his best to translate to English - and did a very good job at that. We were happy to see that there were vegetarian options in each of the courses offered - the changing menu and set price (32 Euro for 3 courses) were a delight. It was a great place to meet friends and we will definitely return.

Despite living in De Pijp for a while now, I hadn't made it as far as Van Der Helstplein. We were greeted immediately by a friendly waiter who seated us and this friendly and efficient service was on display throughout our visit, just the right amount of distance to allow us to talk and leisurely eat our food. We were given appetizers once we ordered our first drinks, grilled aubergine and mozzerella on a crisp chunk of bread, seasoned with garlic-beautiful. I chose the rare tuna for starters and my partner chose ravioli. Both were done perfectly, with the tuna flash-cooked and presented very delicately. My partner was really pleased with the ravioli, perfectly seasoned and the butter sauce just enough to not be overpowering. After a nicely timed break we ordered more wine and received our main courses. Mine was a spinach, blue cheese and pine nut strudel, served with a light salad and herb couscous. The spinach was plentiful and a great accompaniment to the blue cheese, which was present enough to create a strong, but not overpowering taste. The couscous was well seasoned and the overall presentation was impressive. My partner ordered the filet of fish and I must apoogise that I do not remember the type as it was beautiful. It melted in the mouth and came with a sauce that complimented the smooth and rich tone of the dish. My partner was more than satisfied and rightfully so. We ordered a dessert of chocolate amaretto tart to share and the portion was so generous we could share it easily. The tart was to my mind a brownie its centre slightly gooey and rich which contrasted nicely with a slightly crunchy coating, the amaretto again accented the meal well without overpowering. The music was set at a level that created a nice ambience but didn't interfere with conversation. The decor is imaginative and, in combination with friendly staff and food that is prepared by someone who knows exactly what they are doing, this is the perfect setting for any occasion. There was space enough to have an intimate dinner with loved ones, or a gathering with friends. We went there as part of restaurant week, but after tasting the food and surveying the pricelists we will be going back in the near future a taste sensation with very reasonable prices.
